Wow! Has it really been 4 years? We have made lots of changes and have grown and evolved over these last 4 years. I don’t know that I ever expected B!G to be so, well, big. You know what they say about time and how it flies; we have definitely had some fun times, especially in our B!G House. I think the secret to our tenacity is our desire to have long term relationships with our clients. And we have some amazing clients! I am really proud of where we are, where we are going and what we have done. As one of the many advertising agencies in Pensacola, and especially in this economy, we have all struggled to survive. So, Happy Birthday to B!G. And, as the song goes, "Happy Birthday dear B!G. . . Happy Birthday to you. . . and many more. . ."

Becky's Blog - "Flip This B!G House" 99.99% of the time, I can’t wait to walk into The B!G House. There is always something going on here. Between creating campaigns for our Pensacola advertising clients to helping our other clients elsewhere like Bangor ME, & New York City, we try to squeeze a little fun into our day. Our job is to make sure that our clients are taken care of... they are the bread and butter of our business. But who says we can’t have fun along the way? And speaking of food, we all like to try to cook something sometime in our fabulous kitchen. Okay, I exaggerated that just a tad, but we do have a full fledged kitchen (sans dishwasher). Actually, our dishwasher is human. So, it’s great to be able to break bread with people you spend 1/3 of your life with daily. We all seem to get along fine here, of course there are days when it gets a little crazy, and those are the days that seem to fly by. I have said this once and I will say it again, we could do a reality show filmed in our B!G little agency and it would be a hit.
As I squeeze a lemon the size of a soda can in either hand like a rapper with Grammy sweeps, I could not help but wonder why the phrase, in certain befitting situations, can evoke indifference (at best), while the actual event of receiving lemons can cause a collaborative cheer. I have decided it comes down to visual “tangibility”. While the phrase itself is sound proverbial advice, it is too ethereal to assign understanding, and therefore mollification, for our problems. Grasping a very large and very real lemon, however, opens the possibilities that one can have with said citrus. The problem is a verifiable tool, the solution is a solid opportunity. In order to generate excitement, tangibility must be created, and that is why advertising is so effective and necessary in the arena of sales. While visual references and emotional connections aren’t necessarily material, they are observable. With the right insights and execution, an elusory product, brand, company, what-have-you establishes a viable connection, a solid understanding, in other words, a lemon. And let’s just say, we take pride in being bartenders. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the drink was delicious.
Evidence of The Power of Search Engine Optimization We launched the Baybridge Idea Group website two days ago. Our previous website had no listings in Google, and was not doing anything to attract business via the web. Since we've added new staff that is certified in Search Engine Optimization and Internet Marketing, we obviously needed to get to work on our own site and it's Google rankings. Two days ago the site went live. Now, most of you who know anything about SEO realize that it can take weeks or sometimes months to see any progress in the Google search engine ranking pages. Imagine my surprise when I checked out our rankings today to discover that Googlebot has crawled ONE page of the new site, and we are now the second listing for "advertising agencies in pensacola, FL", and are number five for "pensacola advertising agency", eclipsing the rankings of advertising firms in our area that have been in business for decades. Looking forward to seeing the results trickle in as Googlebot starts to index more of our pages and our rankings continue to increase. Now, THAT'S a B!G Idea!
Keeping It In The Family: And so we start at the beginning: LiverWORST, a Catholic-Jewish-Irish Asian (for one day only!), and the exposing of secrets no one intended to see the light of lunch. Today marks the day of St. Patrick’s. Generally, known to be the exception in the Liturgical calendar of Lent; the one day of excess in the 40 days of restraint, and it was not for want at B!G. Consider this a day of bonding over what most can credit an accurate representation of their culture: food and drink. There were green liquids galore, the worst of an unknown animal (based on the iron content, I’d say bull), and plenty of absurdity to go around our round table more than twice. As I sit and laugh over my unnecessarily large portion of food one onion away from an Irish nirvana, I cannot help but admire my co-workers in a light unseen before on a daily basis. True, inhibitions are abandoned and laughter is harder to suppress midst the mason jar of green that dwarfs my torso, but I cannot help but think of them as my family. We spend hours together; at the end of the week, we probably see more of each other than our significant others. This is not a matter of work and platitudes of indifference, this is our life. Together, we drink, we eat, we encourage growth in mind and pass around a pile of plate that resembles a hefty cat food patty (a patty on St. Paddy’s, if you will). And when all is said and done, I noticed that I immediately went to my computer to share my wonderful experience with the world. My productivity increased. Not only was this luncheon a break from the expectations of an adult-demanding world, but it was an enthusiasm boost that was greatly needed. I highly advise other offices to find a common ground to settle down on, for the sake of their employees, their energy, and thusly their business. And so to my co-workers, my support, my family, I raise a congratulatory glass at the loss of inhibitions, the acceptance of one another when control is not an option, and the pursuit of a stronger work ethic today and beyond.

Whereas the last century was dedicated to building websites, the problem now lies within finding them. So, you run your own business. And your brother manages the website. You have cut a deal for inexpensive mail leaflets, and the printer guy likes you so much, he does some brochures for free. Why is your profit not expanding as much as you expected? You, my friend, have chosen Oat Bran. Add a little skim milk, and you’re on your way to a boring breakfast. While traditional forms of media are good for targeting certain niches, communication is ever-evolving and is now dominantly digital. While it is simple to start your own website, the complexities that go beyond what’s found on the settings tab are the factors that will get your website noticed. Let’s break it down to the basics. Consumers rely on search engines to narrow their options. Search engine optimization (SEO) is about the tools (keywords, on-page items, efficient code) that are used to make a website visible in search engines themselves. However, once a consumer is reached, it would be in a business’ best interest to have that one consumer spread the word to other possible consumers. Social media optimization (SMO) is a complimentary methodology to SEO that helps people find your site via social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Digg. Basically, if your brother does not know the proper coding for SEO or effective placement for SMO, you miss the boat.
